Raffle Quilt to Benefit Potsdam Animal Shelter

An original quilt entitled “The Animal Friendly Village” was donated by the Borderline Quilters to the Potsdam Humane Society on Wednesday, Sept. 1. Shown with the quilt in the photos below are Animal Shelter Director Anne Smith, Potsdam Humane Society Board President Bonnie Boyd, and Jan Fife, vice-president of the Borderline Quilters. The quilt is composed of house and tree blocks accented with a variety of animals. The blocks were made by guild members and assembled into this quilt, which will be used as a fund-raiser by the Potsdam Humane Society. The Borderline Quilters created this quilt as a community service project to help the Humane Society.

Note to guild members - I tried to add these photos to our web site and could not figure out how to do it!

Raffle Quilt Update

Guild member, Marcia Tiernan, has machine quilted our raffle quilt. I haven't seen it yet, but I know it will be stunning. Marcia does beautiful quilting. We plan on having raffle tickets ready for distribution in September.

Marlene Hart donated the fabric for the raffle quilt. She designed and made the top. Marcia donated the quilting.

Thanks to both!

Guild members are making signature blocks for a show project. More information on this will be posted soon.

I'm heading out the door for our monthly guild meeting. It's a very warm day. I hope our room is air conditioned!!

Dates Set - Cheel Center Booked

I was able to speak with a representative of Clarkson University today. I booked the Cheel Center for the weekend of June 10, 11 and 12, 2011. What a relief. Cheel is a perfect location for our show with ample space for our quilts as well as vendor space. It's easily accessible with loads of parking.

At our June guild meetings Sandy Foley handed out packets of supplies for our quilt show favors. Sandy and member Bonnie Matthews made up over 500 coaster kits for cute favors. I'll post photos soon. If you have not guessed yet, our theme will be patriotic. Thanks Sandy and Bonnie - what a wonderful contribution.

Quilt Show in Clayton New York

The North County Quilt Guild is holding a quilt show at the Clayton Recreational Park Arena. My husband drove me over this afternoon. We had a beautiful drive along Black Lake. The show features over 300 entries including large quilts and wall hangings. There are several vendors. The show continues tomorrow and Sunday. It's worth the trip. There is also a mini-quilt silent auction to benefit Quilt for a Cure. Very nice donations.
We enjoyed dinner at the Clipper Inn. My friend Chloe Ann recommended this restaurant. It's a great choice.
